A Letter to a Jehovah’s Witness

Please note: This letter was written to a loved one, a week before they were going to be baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness. This letter touches on the deity of Christ, Hell, salvation, the King James Bible vs. the New World Translation, Johannes Greber, and more. Thought provoking questions are brought forth and scripture is applied to this letter. May your eyes and the eyes of your loved one be opened unto the truth and freedom of Jesus Christ.

Dear _____________,

We know this coming Saturday is a big day for you. It is a major and final step, one that should be well thought out and considered. You would never buy a house without first evaluating the pros and the cons, nor would you get into something, without knowing both sides of the story, as this is a very serious matter, not to be taken lightly. It not only involves the course of your life here, but your eternal soul. If you have even the slightest hesitate about anything, you can’t put it aside. You need to check into it and find the truth—even if it hurts.

________, we were open to receive any information you had given us, (even watching videos)…and we hope you will show us the same curtsey. If you believe you have the truth, then you should not fear literature (or a video) which attempts to question your beliefs.

For a long while, we have wanted to share and discuss some things with your beliefs. It was never the right time—but now; we can’t put it aside and wait for the “perfect” time. We first want to thank you for inviting us to your Baptism. We love you so much, ______, and that is why it hurts so much to tell you that we can’t come. Not because we don’t care (normally, this should be the happiest day of your life), but because we cannot partake in something we believe is wrong.

Do you think it would be possible for a person to become a Jehovah’s Witness by reading the Bible alone? Can someone really come to believe Jehovah’s Witness doctrine by reading the Bible only? For example, if you were to have only read the Bible, with no Watchtower study aids, do you think you would’ve really come to the conclusion that heaven closed its doors in 1935, or that Jesus is the Archangel Michael?

Think about this for a minute. Say that a person, who never heard anything about the Bible, had no connection with anything “religious,” was on an island and had only the Bible to read. Now, what kind of beliefs would he embrace? What “denomination” would he turn to? We think that man would have such a greater understand of worshipping the Lord in spirit and in truth—no denominational ties, no man-made doctrines, no deception, no Mennonite, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witness, etc.

Sometime we would be so much better off not to have any connection with any organized religion. It can be so easy to follow someone else’s ideas and interpretation. We had to unlearn so much already, because the Holy Spirit showed us some things that were wrong. The Lord knew that we wanted  the truth and no deception. We searched the Bible for the truth—we didn’t rely on what other church organization were telling us. If any “red flags” pop up in your mind, that is God showing you something is not right.

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ,” (Colossians 2:8).

One thing that isn’t right, ________, is that the Watchtower Organization prohibits you from reading the Bible alone, but rather, they advise you to have a “help-book,” such as the Watchtower publications; so that you can “understand” it—and receive THEIR interruption. The Watchtower Society doesn’t want you to think on your own. They tell you not to read the Bible alone, not to read anyone else’s literature, not to do any research outside of the Watchtower publications, that way they can conveniently feed into your mind what they want you to believe. They can cover-up the truth, and you would never know.

In the Watchtower Publication (dated December 1, 1981); they said, “Unless we are in touch with this channel of communication that God is using, we will not progress along the road to life, no matter how much Bible reading we do.” They’re saying God’s Word is not enough, that you need an interpretation of what it means!

2 Peter 1:20 says, “no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” In addition, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” (2 Tim. 3:16). We are given God’s Word as the final authority—not what the Watchtower or any other organization “says” it means. It is profitable for doctrine and more…God’s Word is our all and all, the ONLY thing we can base our beliefs on.

Does the Governing Body overrule the Bible, if challenged? Just to name a few people who left the organization, who were part of the governing body was Raymond Frantz, (he wrote “Crises of Consciousness”), and Peter Gregerson, who was a witness for 50 years, (read “The Finished Mystery”).

Do you remember, ________, when you said that all it boils down to is who has the right Bible? You are so right.  There is one true religion, many false religions; one true Bible, many false Bibles. It can all be summed up and traced back to two original manuscripts, the “one” from Antioch, and the “many” from Alexandria, Egypt.

As you probably know, anything coming out of Egypt is usually full of paganism, which brings me to the founder of the Watchtower Society, Charles Taze Russell. He was so interested and influenced with the things of Egypt and the great pyramids. He even was buried in Pittsburgh, where a large pyramid marks the spot. We can’t help but remember the video you had given us to watch about the Jehovah Witnesses, which started with many Egyptian symbols. Hmmm.

As you know, The New World Translation supports Johannes Greber’s translation, with many correlating verses found in his Bible. Did you know Johannes Greber was heavily influenced by the occult when he was engaged in the work of translating his Bible version? His wife, a medium of God’s Spiritworld, was often instrumental in conveying the correct answer from God’s messengers to Greber.  Greber made this statement: “a truth presented by Satan is just as true as stated by God, except that truth, no matter what it convicts.”

On pages 50-58 of “Questions for Jehovah’s Witness:” you’ll find a list of comparable verses between Greber’s translation and the NWT. The Watchtower supported Greber’s translation of these verses and are still using them! Also in those pages, you will see at least 10 major doctrines that both Greber and the New World Translation use. Knowing where some of the translation of the NWT came from would put a fear in my heart!

Here are some interesting facts you should know, _________—Talmudic Judaism was one of the first religions to deny that God could become a man, and Freemasons are the only other religious order to frequently use the term “Jehovah.” Actually, Charles Taze Russell himself was a freemason. The Rothschilds’ were responsible for funding and creating the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society even through Wall Street.

A magical belief in modern Jehovah’s Witness doctrine:  The Memorial Supper—which is an ancient, Gnostic, Luciferan practice of saying “No” to the body of Christ. “Golden Age” and “Watchtower” are terms widely used in enochian magic, freemasonry, and other branches of the Kabala. Gods worshipped by these closely related groups are, Horus, Isis, Lucifer, Jehovah, etc. It appears as if the Watchtower chose just one of these many gods, and decided on Jehovah, since this would make people think that they were a Christian based organization.

If the Watch Tower Society proclaims they are “God’s organization,” not man’s—than why are they continually changing their beliefs, why are their prophecies continually proven false, and why (as seen above) are their beliefs intertwined with the occult? ________, we have dated photocopies of actual Watch Tower publications that give proof of this.

Jehovah’s Witness’ claim the “light gets brighter,” or they received “some new light.” No, we don’t think so…it’s rather a case of someone playing with the light switch. How can yesterday’s “truth” now be today’s error? Should you put your trust in this organization? An organization that’s carried about by “every wind of doctrine?”

Concerning the deity of Christ—In John 1:1 it says, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the word was God.” (The “word” represents “Jesus”). “And the Word was made flesh…” (John 1:14).

Jesus existed ever since the beginning of time with God; He was not created. “To wit, that God was in Christ…” (2 Corinthians 5:19). In Col. 2:9, “For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.”  1 Timothy 3:16 “God was manifest in the flesh….” Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh.

These verses show that God (Jehovah) is in Jesus Christ. They are both one, equal. 1 John 5:7 “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”

However, if you believe that Jehovah is the one true God; and Jesus, as having the power to save you because of His blood that was shed at Calvary—then you have two separate deities or two Gods!

Contractions to your beliefs of having “one” God are found in the New World Translation. From the NWT, in Isaiah 9:6 “For there has been a child born to us; there has been a son given to us;  and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulders, and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” Note that “God” is with a capital “G,” meaning that JESUS is God (Jehovah). In Jeremiah 32:18 it states that Jehovah is GOD—“…the [true] God, the great One, the mighty One, Jehovah of armies being his name…”

So now, would you say they are one and the same, or two separate deities?

Do you know that many new Bible Versions exclude the deity of Christ, Hell, etc? The NIV and others are so popular with many churches today; it is an exact blueprint for the Antichrist’s One World religion. If these beliefs are so popular among the churches today, it would seem to be the broadway that leads to destruction. The narrow way is a very unpopular path, and “few there be that find it,” (Matthew 7:13, 14).

__________, we would like to ask you something…do you believe that you would be saved if you didn’t go door to door? According to the Watchtower Organization, Feb. 15, 1983, p. 12, there are four requirements for salvation as taught by the Watchtower magazine. In a nutshell—1. Taking in knowledge, studying the Bible. 2. Obey God’s laws. 3. Being associated with God’s channel, his organization. 4. Telling others about God’s Kingdom.

However, if you read the Bible alone, as God intended, then you will discover that salvation is obtained by faith in Christ and what He did on the cross. That is why the Bible says we are justified by faith. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…” (Romans 5:1). Many turn the simplicity of the gospel, Christianity, into a work-salvation. However, Hebrews 9:22 clearly states: “…without shedding of blood is no remission.” Your salvation doesn’t depend on how many doors you knock on, or how often you attend meetings, your works, etc. It says in Isaiah 64:6, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags.”

We cannot earn our salvation. It is a free gift from God; no strings attached. There are no amount of hours going door to door, no amount of obeying God’s laws that will please God enough to let you in Heaven. If you think that sincerity will make up the difference, then you’re wrong.

Ephesians 2:8 & 9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” It is totally relying on Jesus’ saving blood and what He did for us at Calvary that saves us. Romans 3:28 “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.”   If we could work our way to Heaven, then why did Jesus have to die?

Works of righteousness do not aid our justification, but are evidence of our justification. It is after we have repented and have the blood of Jesus applied to our hearts that we then go out and do good works and keep His commandments. We do them because we are saved, not to earn our salvation or to keep our salvation. Because Jesus said, “It is finished,” (John 19:30).

It is only when the blood of Jesus Christ is applied to your heart and covering your sins, when Jesus will pass over you. “…when I see the blood, I will pass over you,” (Ex. 12:13). Salvation comes directly from the hand of God, from His throne to your heart—not through a religious organization!

To believe anything else is like trying to get to Heaven another way. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber,” (John 10:1). Jesus said in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Are you trusting and relying on Jesus’ saving blood for your salvation?

The last time we discussed the subject of Hell, ____ was explaining that when you die you go to the grave. After we talked about it and searched the scriptures, we found we do agree with that. However, it does not end at the grave—as “there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust,” (Acts 24:15); and the second death: Revelations 20:14 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”

That day is soon coming… “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up,” (2 Peter 3:10).

Hell is a place of outer darkness; a kind of darkness that is not only seen with the eyes, but is felt in the soul. A place where the fires die not, nor is there any water to cool your tongue, (Luke 16:20-31). It is a place of total separation from God. Hell is described in Mark 9:44 as a place “where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” And in Isaiah 66:24, “…for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched;” The worm represents your memory and conscience—a place where tormenting thoughts haunt you, a place where memories of missed opportunities to come to the truth of Jesus Christ trouble you.

When Jesus was here on earth, He preached about the wrath to come and the fires of Hell more than anything. You might ask, “Why is there a Hell? Isn’t God supposed to be a loving God?” Indeed, He most certainly is loving. Jesus didn’t have to come to earth and warn us of the judgment to come, and call us to repentance. “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved,” (John 3:17). Instead of being unfair, this is mercy at its utmost. He is the righteous judge and He is more than just. Jesus Christ is full of love, grace, and mercy to those that repent and believe.

John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God,” (Hebrews 10:31). Eternity is a long time. Too long to make a mistake now. “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation;” (Hebrews 2:3). Jesus has the keys of hell and death. Jesus can set you free…“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free,” (John 8:32).

In closing, _________, we want to stress that we do miss the Christian fellowship that we had with others at the different churches we attended. However, we knew they were not teaching the whole truth and were preaching according to what the people wanted.  So, that left us with no other choice but to part with them. “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,” (2 Corinthians 6:17).  The road is narrow, but it leads to life eternal. It gets hard at times,  but I know without a doubt the Lord will honor those that will not compromise the truth!  And we are never alone with Jesus by our side.

We pray that you will take this in the love that it was given!  We just couldn’t stand by without sharing this with you.  Our heart’s desire is that the Lord will guide you into the fullness of His truth.  This letter has been prayed over and you will never be the same after reading it. May the Lord open your eyes to the truth and all those who have ears to hear!
