Altar Of Forgiveness…
Written March 8, 2003

Stones marking their destined blow,
And tears in anguish fall.
My heart scarred by the words of hate,
And I lay them all
At the altar of forgiveness,
Looking for a sea of forgetfulness.
Colors of gray change into blue,
And the warmth of the sun
Imparts the shadows of gloom
To see what God has done
At the altar of forgiveness
When I sought a sea of forgetfulness.
Your open arms have become
An altar to draw near to,
And Your love a deep, deep sea
Where I can find peace through
The altar of Your forgiveness
And the sea of forgetfulness.
Tears flowing from such pain-enduring eyes
With hands nailed to a cross,
Still willing to forgive the ones whose blame
Caused You to pay the cost…
An altar of true forgiveness,
Find that sea of forgetfulness,
And when You see me coming,
When the traveled journey is done,
I will know the sacrifice
Was not wasted, for it had become
An altar of Your forgivenss,
And a sea of forgetfulness.
