Poetry: Blind My Eyes

Blind My Eyes

Blind my eyes and be my vision; be the beauty that I can’t see.
Bind my tongue and be my witness; in the courts of justice, I stand condemned.
Break these arms and bereave my loss, for without Your cross, I’ve no defense.
I’ve no defense without the expense You paid to pardon me;
Blind my eyes, oh lovely Jesus, if they spell my unbelief.

Blind my eyes and be my vision; be the beauty I’ve fought to see.
Bleed these lies that flow within me; in a storm of parody, I’ve stood deceived.
Besiege my soul and bind my loss to a bloody cross that my Lord received.
My Lord received death to pay the expense that would write my liberty;
So, blind my eyes, oh dying Savior, if they spell my unbelief.

Blind my eyes and be my vision; be the beauty I’ll someday see.
Break my hands to rise toward heaven; let me praise You through broken dreams.
By Your stripes, You’ve healed my loss for in Your cross, I stand redeemed.
I stand redeemed and unbelief: please don’t let it strive to ruin me;
So blind my eyes, oh risen Savior, if they spell my unbelief.

Blind my eyes, oh lovely Jesus, if they spell my unbelief.

 I would rather walk through this life blinded if I knew my sight was causing me to suffer the spiritual handicap of unbelief.

 Trust the God you cannot see … but don’t make your faith invisible.

Let Jesus Christ be your vision.

“… blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”-John 20:29
